Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 large yellow onion, finely diced
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
- 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 6 oz medium cheddar, shredded
- 24 slider buns or dinner rolls
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (plus extra to grease baking sheet)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the Onions: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onions until soft and translucent. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed onions, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until everything is well combined, but avoid overmixing to keep the beef tender.
- Cook the Beef: Spread the beef mixture evenly on a greased baking sheet, pressing it down to form a flat layer. Bake for 15 minutes or until the beef is fully cooked through.
- Add Cheese: Once cooked, remove the beef from the oven. Lay the cheddar slices over the beef and return it to the oven for 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Cut the Sliders: Cut the cooked beef into 24 equal squares. These will serve as your slider patties.
- Assemble the Sliders: Place each beef square onto a slider bun. Brush the tops of the buns with melted butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds on top (optional).
- Bake the Sliders: Place the assembled sliders back into the oven for an additional 5 minutes to toast the buns lightly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve hot with your choice of condiments such as ketchup, mustard, lettuce, and tomato.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
- You can prepare the beef and cheese mixture ahead of time, then assemble and bake the sliders right before serving.
